Designer of Michelle Obama 'Vote' Necklace Looks at Legal Options Over Imitations

Michelle Obama’s “vote” necklace, worn at the Democratic National Convention, is in the spotlight again. But, this time it’s over potential legal action by its designer against an alleged knock-off being sold by Mint & Lily. So reports Forbes.

michelle obama 1129160 640The necklace worn by the former first lady was designed by Jamaican-born Chari Cuthbert, but according to the article, a nearly identical one is being sold by the ecommerce jeweler and being marketed with a picture of Obama. There are also dozens of other handmade necklaces on marketplace website Etsy, with many featuring Obama’s photo wearing Cuthbert’s necklace. The site said it will remove listings “that infringe on intellectual property if it receives complaints.”
