The U.S. Department of Justice charged “Clinton Portis, Carlos Rogers, Robert McCune, John Eubanks, Tamarick Vanover, Ceandris Brown, James Butler, Frederick Bennett, Etric Pruitt and Correll Buckhalter” in two separate indictments. Reche Caldwell and Joe Horn are also expected to be charged.
The scheme allegedly involved submitting false claims for expensive medical equipment that was, ultimately, never purchased, then finding eligible players to submit fraudulent paperwork in order to pocket the money.
