House 'Immune' to Lawsuit Challenging COVID-driven Proxy Voting

A Republican-driven lawsuit aimed at inhibiting the House of Representatives proxy voting system was tossed by a federal judge in the District of Columbia. So reports USA Today.

capitol 720677 640smallRepublicans contend the new rules violate the Constitution since “a majority of lawmakers must be present to take up business and vote on legislation.” However, U.S. District Judge Rudolph Cortreras ruled the House “unquestionably has the authority, under the Constitution, to ‘determine the Rules of its Proceedings,’” according to the article.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy vowed to appeal the decision.
