Calif. Court: Bees Are Fish, Per State Law  

An appeals court in Sacramento, Calif., has ruled bees are legally considered to be fish per state environmental law. So reports The Sacramento Bee.

bees gd1b14dddb 640The ruling is rooted in California’s endangered species law, which explicitly pertains to “fish” classified as invertebrates. The law has also been used to protect other land-dwelling invertebrates like snails, and as such is now extended to bees despite challenges from agricultural groups representing citrus, almond and cotton farmers at odds with the insects.
