DOJ Sues Texas, Asks Judge to Block New Abortion Law

The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the state of Texas after it passed a new law banning abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. So reports The New York Post.

Texas abstract 2726482 640smallThe lawsuit is challenging the statute based on its Constitutionality, and the DOJ has asked a federal judge to invalidate the law. Previous attempts to stunt the law failed when the Supreme Court denied an emergency appeal, although the justices noted the ruling was not a “judgement on the law’s constitutionality.”
