Fate of 241 Disabled Residents at Stake After 32-year-old Case Settled

A settlement agreement in New Mexico could put to bed a 32-year-old suit involving the rights of intellectually and developmentally disabled people. So reports Associated Press.

New Mexico Department of Health Secretary Kathy Kunkel expects adjustments will be made in the next 18 months to satisfy the terms of the agreement. The treatment of 241 residents, who were once serviced by the now-closed Los Lunas and Fort Stanton facilities, were at the heart of the case.
