Chevron was accused of repeatedly violating the Clean Air Act. Chevron’s practices were called into question after a 2012 refinery fire.
The company will pay $2.95 million in civil penalties and a total settlement of more than $160 million. It is the largest settlement since the EPA began enforcing the Risk Management Plan Rule of the Clean Air Act.
