Oahu Bans Pedestrians from Looking at Cell Phones While Crossing the Street

The Hawaiian island of Oahu is the first in the nation to pass a law punishing pedestrians for looking at mobile phones and electronic devices while crossing the street. So reports NBC News.

Cell phones, video games and tablets are among the devices banned. The law has received mixed feedback, with some calling it intrusive. The penalty for violating the law will be $15 to $35 for the first offense with additional violations occurring within a year up to $99.
