Pair Sentenced to Hefty Jail Time for Threatening Partygoers, Shouting Slurs

Jose Torres and Kayla Norton were sentenced to 20 years and 15 years prison time, respectively, for their role in a 2015 incident where they shouted racial slurs, made armed threats and waved a Confederate flag at guests of a child’s party near Atlanta. So reports ABC News.

The couple was part of a group called Respect the Flag, who responded to South Carolina’s decision to remove the Confederate battle flag from certain locations by riding in “pickup trucks threatening black families and calling them racial slurs across two counties in the Atlanta suburbs,” the story reads.

Torres and Norton, among others, were charged with making terroristic threats, aggravated assault and violating Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. They are barred from entering Douglas County upon release from prison.
