A federal court in Dallas, Texas, found Oculus used ZeniMax computer code to launch the Rift VR headset. Facebook bought Oculus in 2014 for $2 billion.
ZeniMax claimed John Carmack, a game designer, developed part of the Rift technology working at a ZeniMax subsidiary. Carmack was then hired by Oculus in 2013. ZeniMax Chief Executive Robert Altman said the company is considering asking for a block order to prevent Oculus and Facebook from using its code.
The jury did not find Facebook directly liable, but is expected to be responsible for damages owed by Oculus.
