Gawker Files Chapter 11, Faces Slew of Lawsuits

Gawker Media, which recently filed for bankruptcy, is fighting a number of lawsuits, including an appeal of a suit related to the invasion of privacy of professional wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan. So reports Politico.

The company filed for Chapter 11 protection to prevent Hogan from seizing the company’s assets. In addition to the case related to Hogan’s privacy, which centers around a reported “sex tape,” the company is facing suit from lawyers, bloggers, reporters, and athletes, among others.

It is unclear how many of these cases are being funded by Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel, who has actively sought plaintiffs to back against Gawker.
