Animal Welfare Group Sues on Behalf of Isolated Chimp

In what it calls “a landmark case for animal protection,” the Animal Legal Defense Fund has filed a suit against the Dixie Landin’ amusement park for keeping a chimpanzee in solitary confinement for 40 years. So reports The Shreveport Times.

The chimp, whose name is Candy, lives in a concrete cage where he has been observed starring into space and rocking back and forth—activities that signify severe depression, animal behaviorists say.
