Outsourcing of Legal Operations: the 'On-Shore' Trend

Considering the job market for lawyers is not what it was prior to the Great Recession, it’s not surprising that many legal departments (and even law firms) outsource some legal operations. So reports Corporate Counsel.

What’s not widely known is that, increasingly, more and more legal process outsourcing (LPO) is being brought on-shore – no longer just to India or other off-shore locations. Instead of Mumbai or Manila, LPO service providers are opening offices in domestic locales like Austin, Texas and Fargo, North Dakota.

A 2013 survey of legal outsourcing conducted by Corporate Counsel revealed that corporate legal departments surveyed tended to favor outsourcing legal work, with 65% of those indicating they used mainly domestic vendors.
