KFC Franchise Owner to Pay Workers $375K for Stealing Their Wages

More than 700 current and former employees of 13 Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises in New York City will share a $375,000 wage restitution payment the fast-food restaurants’ owner has agreed to fork over. So reports The New York Daily News.

The restaurants’ owner, Hiren Patel, struck the deal with the state’s attorney general to settle charges that, from November 2011 to September 2014, he broke several labor laws, including failing to pay employees proper overtime and requiring workers to continue to work after they’d clocked out.

Patel purchased another 27 KFC locations after the attorney general’s investigation began.
