Statutory Rape Victim Ordered to Pay Child Support

A Phoenix resident has been ordered to pay $15,000 in back child support for a child he fathered at 14 when he had sex with a 20-year-old woman. So reports The Arizona Republic.

The man, Nick Olivas, now 24, learned he had a child two years ago when the state served him with papers demanding support for his then-6-year-old daughter. Arizona state law doesn’t exempt someone in his position from child-support responsibilities unless the parent seeking child support has been found guilty of sexual assault. Olivas never pressed charges.
