Law Firm Revenue Growth Remains Constrained

Law firm revenue grew a modest 2.5% in 2013, with the 50 top-grossing U.S. firms "materially outperform[ing]" other segments of the market in terms of profitability. So reports The Wall Street Journal.

Furthermore, global firms with strong international presences showed the biggest revenue gains. Drop-offs in major litigation work and the loss of several partners adversely affected lobbying powerhouse Patton Boggs LLP—which is in the early stages of merger talks with the international law firm Squire Sanders—and Bingham McCutchen LLP, two firms whose revenue declined significantly last year.
