Man Declared Dead in 2000 is Alive & Fighting for Benefits

A California man who now goes by the name “Kwame Seku” claims a DNA test proves he is a father of three from New York City who was formerly known as “Winston Bright.” Bright has been missing for decades and was deemed deceased by a judge in 2000. So reports the New York Daily News.

In a letter to a Manhattan Surrogate Court judge, Seku last month claimed that—as Winston Bright—he is entitled to benefits payments from Verizon, where he worked for 20 years. Verizon officials say that, for now, they will follow the court order ruling Seku dead and continue paying survivorship benefits to his wife.
