NYC to Reform 'Stop-And-Frisk'

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio last week announced that the city has entered into an agreement with civil rights attorneys to reform its policy of allowing police to "stop-and-frisk" a person who they have a reasonable suspicion has committed a crime or is about to commit a crime. So the Los Angeles Times reports.

Pursuant to the agreement, court-appointed monitors will oversee the New York Police Department's efforts to reform the policy for three years. A U.S. District Court judge declared New York City’s stop-and-frisk policy unconstitutional in August. Mayor de Blasio said the city is dropping its appeal of that decision.
