Texas AG Lauds Voter Fraud Decision

An appeals court in Texas upheld Rosa Maria Ortega’s voter fraud conviction. So reports NBC News

The verdict, lauded by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for protecting citizens’ voting rights, likely means Ortega will be sentenced to eight years in prison and face deportation. The green card holder was said to have voted five times between 2004 and 2014.

Prosecutors said Ortega correctly indicated she was not a citizen on her driver’s license, but did not make such a distinction on her voting form. Her counsel argued it was an honest mistake with no malicious intent.
