Archdiocese Settles with Sexual Abuse Victims for $210 Million

The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis will create a $210 million trust for hundreds of victims of clerical sexual abuse, representing one of the largest settlements of its kind. So reports The New York Times.

The archdiocese has filed for bankruptcy, and is one of a number of Roman Catholic dioceses to do so amid sexual abuse allegations. In 2015, the Minnesota Legislature passed the Child Victims Act, temporarily lifting the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse cases, which contributed to an influx of lawsuits.
