Chicago Lt. Files Suit Claiming She Was Removed from Command for Being a Woman

Lt. Allison Schloss, the first woman to run the Chicago Police Department’s Marine and Helicopter Unit, filed a sex discrimination suit in federal court after she claims her male-supervisor resented her promotion and stripped her of her command. So reports the Associated Press.

She is now in charge of the Major Accident Investigation Unit, while Deputy Chief Steve Georgas has since moved on from the department. Schloss said Georgas did not want a woman to run the Marine and Helicopter Unit and frequently overruled her personnel decisions.
