Lawyer Jailed After Whistleblower-lawsuit Scheme

Attorney Jeffrey Wertkin was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for stealing documents related to whistleblower lawsuits and selling them to the companies named in the claims. So reports Bloomberg.

Prior to being hired to Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where he claimed he was underpaid, Wertkin was a U.S. Justice Department lawyer. When nabbed by the FBI, Wertkin was reportedly sporting a wig and sunglasses, trying to pick up a $310,000 payout from a Silicon Valley company.
