Icelandic Officials Pen Law Banning Child Circumcisions

Officials in Iceland are seeking to ban such circumcisions and impose a 6-year prison sentence for those who violate the restriction. So reports Newsweek.

The proposal would ban the practice, with an exception for circumcisions related to health concerns, as it violates the "human rights" of children too young to make informed decision themselves. The proposed law suggests banning the removal of foreskin until children are old enough to consent. While not specified in the bill, the age of sexual consent in Iceland is 15.
