Volkswagon Exec Sentenced to 7 Years in Emissions Scheme

Volkswagen senior manager Oliver Schmidt was sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in concealing software used to cheat pollution limit tests on close to 600,000 Volkswagen diesel-fuel vehicles. So reports CBS News.

Schmidt was deemed a “key conspirator” who was hopeful his part in the cover-up would help advance his career. Volkswagen pleaded guilty earlier this year for evading the emissions tests and was ordered to pay billions of dollars in fines
