NYC Mayor Repeals Decades-Old Ban on Dancing

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio signed a repeal of a law that banned dancing in “thousands” of bars, restaurants and clubs. So reports The Daily Mail.

The law was enacted in 1926 and was criticized for its racial undertones as it was used as a tool to crack down on jazz clubs in Harlem. The rarely enforced law requires establishments that sell food and drink to obtain permits, but only 100 of the city’s more than 22,000 restaurants, bars and clubs have one.
