Nurse Gets $500k After Highly-Publicized Arrest

Nurse Alex Wubbels settled her lawsuit with Salt Lake City for $500,000 after she was “roughly arrested” for refusing to draw blood from an unconscious patient. So reports Northeast Public Radio.

The hospital's policy prohibits drawing blood from unconscious patients unless they are under arrest. According to reports, the deal covers all possible defendants, including the hospital’s security force and individual police officers. The arresting officer, Detective Jeff Payne, was fired and his watch commander, Lt. James Tracey, was demoted. However, both have appealed those decisions.
