CA Woman to Get $6.7M After Alleged Scuffle with Police

Danielle Harmon Burfine, of San Jose, Calif., will get $6.7 million after suffering permanent nerve damage, according to her attorney. She may never be able to work again following an altercation with Santa Clara police. So reports KTVU.

Burfine broke her ankle while trying to stop police from entering her residence sans a warrant. A police body camera showed officers breaking her door down, an ensuing struggle and Burfine on the ground “screaming in pain.”

Police were said to be attempting to arrest Burfine’s daughter on an arson charge. Santa Clara Police Chief Michael Sellers defended his officers and said he was unhappy with the settlement, adding he wished the department could have its “day in court.”
