Man Sues Papa John’s Over Unwanted Texts

John Anozie, of Beverly Hills, is seeking $500 per unwanted texts from Papa John’s, which he claims began sending him promotional messages in March of last year. So reports The New York Daily News.

Anozie filed the lawsuit in United States District Court. He pointed to a message from March 25, 2016, offering “two large pizzas with up to five toppings for $9.99” and an option to text “STOP” to prevent future messages as an impetus for court proceedings.

Despite multiple attempts to halt the promotions, the texts continued. It is unclear how many messages the pizza chain sent, but lawyers indicated there were enough to violate the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
