Chicago PD Engaged in Systemic Rights Violations: Report

The U.S. Justice Department found the Chicago Police Department to have engaged in a "pattern and practice of violating residents' constitutional rights" over the course of years. So reports The New York Daily News.

An official who spoke on the condition of anonymity did not offer details. The investigation was launched in 2015 after a video allegedly showing a white officer fatally shooting a black teenager, Laquan McDonald, 16 times surfaced. The Chicago Police Department has close to 12,000 officers and is one of the largest in the U.S.
