Dylann Roof, Sans Lawyers, Plans No Defense in Penalty Phase

Convicted Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof will not present evidence or call any witnesses during the penalty phase of his death penalty trial. So reports CBS News.

Roof is acting as his own lawyer after declining the services of defense attorneys following his conviction on 33 hate crime counts and obstruction of justice. Prosecutors allege Roof was hate-filled and racially ignorant, while his defense lawyers claimed he was a suicidal loner unable to understand the full weight of his actions.
