Mass. House OK’s Transgender Protection Bill, Including Penalty for Faking It

The Massachusetts House approved a bill to bar discrimination against transgender people and allow them to use public locker rooms and bathrooms that matches their gender identity. So reports NBC affiliate WNYT.

The bill includes a provision that would punish "improper" claims of gender identity, although that language does not appear in a state Senate version of the bill addressing the controversial topic. Republican Gov. Charlie Baker said he would sign the bill if it passed the House, according to information in the story.
