Woman Liable for $2M After Squirrel Cooking Goes Awry

The Michigan Court of Appeals reversed a lower court ruling limiting the damages Barbara Pellow would be responsible for after her boyfriend allegedly started a massive apartment fire. Pellow's boyfriend was preparing to cook a squirrel using a torch and accidentally caused the fire. So reports the Associated Press.

Pellow was initially ruled to pay $15,000 in damages, but the insurance company that picked up the tab for the nearly $2 million in repairs sought reimbursement, as Pellow's boyfriend was not a registered tenant. The fire damaged 32 units.
