“Many of these disruptive ideas are emerging from the startup ecosystem and have the potential to add significant value and impact for tomorrow’s [legal] leaders,’’ said Ziegler in a statement. “I’m excited to arm the legal community with vital insights on how advancements in technology and entrepreneurship will shape the world for years to come.”

Women of Legal Tech Back for Fourth Year

As part of the festivities, the Legal Technology Resource Center (LTRC) will host Women of Legal Tech, an initiative to “encourage diversity and celebrate women in legal technology.” Launched in 2015, the list of honorees now boasts “100 talented and influential women leaders,” according to information from the Legal Technology Resource Center.

“The nominations were inspiring and indicate real momentum for women in the legal tech space. A committee of LTRC tech gurus met to select this year’s honorees,” reads promotional material from the organizers. “The committee consisted of Heidi Alexander, Dennis Kennedy, Sofia Lingos, Brooke Moore, and Allison Shields. The selection process was unbelievably challenging, but we rounded off the honorees to 100 by adding 15 phenomenal women this year.”

Notre Dame Law Added to the National Society for Legal Tech List

Law Technology Today announced Notre Dame Law School is the 125th “legal academic institution” to use the National Society for Legal Technology’s (NSLT) classroom curriculum certificate.

“Legal employers are pushing for greater technology competency, and academic institutions are responding in kind by incorporating our system,” said NSLT President and CEO Douglas Lusk. “Students who follow this curriculum graduate with real-world, practical knowledge of legal technologies that increases productivity to employers, reduces training time and makes for a more attractive hiring candidate.”

The law school will administer the certificate training program using an interactive learning portal to provide hands-on tutorials rather than using an “outdated” model that asks students to learn software with a textbook, the announcement reads. Students will use Clio, TrialDirector, and NetDocuments, according to information from Law Technology Today.

“Many of these institutions don’t have the budget or the expertise to offer all of these software programs to students on their own,” said Lusk. “National Society for Legal Technology is able to provide the access and training otherwise unavailable to these schools and their students.”
