Facebook is bringing in Jennifer Newstead, a Washington lawyer and former State Department advisor, as its new general counsel. So reports The Wall Street Journal.

Newstead was also a partner at Davis, Polk & Wardwell LLP where she handled “cross-border regulatory matters” and was an attorney in the George W. Bush administration as well as a clerk for Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. She will replace Colin Stretch who announced he was leaving the company last summer.
