N.C. Attorney Charged with Improper Lobbying, Obstruction

Raleigh attorney and lobbyist Mark Bibbs was charged on 10 counts, including several felonies, related to obstruction of justice and improper lobbying after a media-initiated investigation. So reports WBTV, a CBS affiliate.

Emails allegedly show Bibbs improperly attempted to influence lawmakers with respect to pending legislation that could have impacted a client he was representing in 2016. Bibbs admitted to lobbying without being registered during a criminal investigation into his activities. North Carolina state law requires lobbyists to register with the Secretary of the State's Office.
