Obamacare Rolls-Out Despite Gov't Shutdown

While differences over the Affordable Care Act may have caused this month's government shutdown, the shutdown didn't stop the rollout of Obamacare. That’s because money designated for the launch was approved in a previous session of Congress and didn't have to be approved again. So reports CNN.com.

In the brief time since Obamacare's launch:

• The federal website established for consumers who want to enroll in Obamacare, HealthCare.gov, has been plagued with glitches, making it difficult for people to file applications

• Consumers in the 14 states that are running their own sign-up sites (and not using HealthCare.gov as the gateway to sign up new insurance customers) have had more luck, resulting in 257,000 new sign-ups

• The cost of insurance premiums from state to state has become clearer, thanks to the release of online maps showing premiums based on age and sex.
