'Stranger Things' Creators Face 'Implied Contract' Lawsuit

A lawsuit against the creators of the Netflix series “Stranger Things” claims the Duffer brothers broke an “implied contract” with filmmaker Charlie Kessler and is now heading toward trial. So reports the Pitchfork.

Kessler claims he entered into a verbal agreement to work on a project with the Duffer brothers based on a conspiracy theory surrounding the “Montauk Project,” which has shared elements with the Netflix series the brothers ultimately created. Lawsuits like this could set a “perilous” precedent that might stifle creativity in television and filmmaking.
