Pro Poker Player, Debt Collector Guilty After ‘Coercing’ $31M in Overpayments

Travell Thomas, a professional poker player and the owner and CEO of the 4 Star Resolution debt-collection firm, pleaded guilty for his role in a scheme that coerced his alleged victims to overpay their debts by “at least $31 million.” So reports the Buffalo News.

Thomas was said to have instructed his debt collecting employees to “threaten, intimidate, and lie” to those in debt, including overstating their debts and making false claims about the consequences of not paying. Thomas pleaded guilty to two charges, each with a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison as well as three years supervised release
