Subway Jared Sentenced to 15+ Years in Jail

Former Subway sandwich spokesman Jared Fogel has been sentenced to more than 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to sexual conduct with minors and distribution of child pornography. So reports NBC News.

Fogel made the guilty plea pursuant to a deal that he struck with prosecutors after a raid of his suburban Indianapolis home in July. He admitted to paying a 16-year-old for sex, and prosecutors say he received child pornography produced by Russell Taylor, the former executive director of Fogel’s nonprofit to fight childhood obesity.

Fogel encouraged Taylor to continue to produce child pornography, according to prosecutors. An expert witness testifying on Fogel’s behalf said Fogel suffers from hypersexuality, mild pedophilia, and alcohol abuse and dependency. Fogle will pay a total of $1.4 million to his 14 victims, with each getting $100,000.

During the sentencing, the judge said Fogel had already given $7 million to his wife, who filed for divorce on the day Fogel agreed to plead guilty.
