N.Y. Law Students May Take Bar Exam Before Graduation

New York Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman last week announced the creation of a Pro Bono Scholars Program that will allow law students in the Empire State to take the bar exam in February of their third year of law school instead of after graduation. So reports The New York Times.

Students can do so if they provide volunteer legal services to indigent clients during their last semester. Experts cautioned that it may take some time to implement the program, which is designed to serve the dual purpose of providing law students with much-needed practical experience and increasing the number of lawyers willing to serve low- and middle-income clients.
