Legal Documents At Risk When Abbreviating the New Year: Police

Law enforcement officials have warned against abbreviating the year “2020” on legal documents as doing so might put you at risk for fraud. So reports CBS Boston.

2020 new years day 4722431 1920A now viral post by the East Millinocket Police Department offering the cautionary advice was created based on an image from the George E. Moore Law Office, LLC. “This year’s abbreviation is easily changeable and could be used against you,” reads the article, as a “17” or “18” could be placed after the “20” by malicious fraudsters.
