Felicia Gonzales, a black woman who checked into an Oregon hotel, is suing the Residence Inn by Marriott Portland Downtown/Convention Center for allegedly forcing her to sign a “no party” pledge even though other white guests were excused from the requirement. So reports NBC News.
According to the lawsuit, Gonzales claims she suffered “embarrassment, frustration, anger, humiliation” and a “sense of increased vulnerability, and feelings of racial stigmatization” after her stay. She is seeking $300,000. A representative for the hotel chain declined comment on the suit.
