Kentucky Man Wins Right to 'Im God' Vanity Plate in 1st Amendment Case

Kentucky resident Ben Hart will be able to use a license plate that reads "IM GOD" after being denied the right by the state's Division of Motor Vehicles. So reports WKU Public Radio.

Initially, the DMV blocked the request claiming the plate was "obscene or vulgar" and later stated it was “not in good taste” and "could distract other drivers or possibly lead to confrontations." However, U.S. District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove in the Eastern District of Kentucky ruled the state Transportation Cabinet was in violation of the First Amendment in denying the plate.
