Faithless Electors Not Bound By Popular Vote: Ruling

A federal appeals court has ruled that electors who cast ballots in presidential elections cannot be forced to follow ther results of the popular vote in the state's they represent. So reports NBC News.

The decision was handed down from a panel of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and was a win for Michael Baca, who in 2016 ignored the results of Colorodo's vote, which favored Hillary Clinton, and wrote in John Kasich. The ruling conflicts with a recent decision from the Supreme Court in Washington State, which ruled the electors must follow the popular vote results.
