Medical Marijuana Discrimination Case Crosses with Firearms Statute

A federal judge tossed a lawsuit from Sgt. Donald Bensey, of Connecticut, who sued Police Chief Armando Perez after claiming he was wrongfully suspended for being a “medical marijuana user.” So reports CT Post.

Bensey was suspended in 2018 and, in the now-thrown out lawsuit, claimed his suspension was in violation of a state law prohibiting employee discrimination when using medical marijuana. The judge said federal laws and agency rules regarding possession of firearms while using marijuana were at the crux of the decision.
