Immigration Advocates Challenge Barr’s Detention Directive

Immigration advocacy organizations challenged Attorney General William Barr’s directive to force those seeking asylum to stay in detention until their cases are finished. So reports USA Today.

Barr issued an April 16 decision ordering judges to deny bond hearings for asylum seekers. Opponents of the rule claim it violates the Constitution and Fifth Amendment. Last year, new rules from Homeland Security and the Department of Justice barred migrants entering illegally from applying at all, but that rule was blocked.
