Purdue Pharma, Sacklers Hit with Lawsuit from 500 Municipalities

Purdue Pharma and its owners are facing a lawsuit from more than 500 cities, tribes and counties, which have accused the drug maker of paving the way for the nation’s opioid epidemic. So reports CBS News.

The lawsuit, filed in a federal court in New York, accuses the company and eight members of the Sackler family of racketeering. Other companies, including Johnson & Johnson, were also sued in response to the “opioid crisis.” Purdue makes OxyContin.
