D.C. Weighing Lowering Voting Age

A Washington, D.C. council member proposed lowering the voting age to 16. So reports The Hill.

The bill would allow the newly eligible minors to vote in the 2020 presidential election if passed into law. Council member Charles Allen introduced the legislation in response to student-led anti-gun activism.

A majority of council members are backing the bill. In some cases, Washington, D.C., is regarded as a state, which permits it to change the voting age for both local and federal elections.
