SCOTUS to Hear Wisconsin Election Redistricting Case

The Supreme Court of the United States will hear a Wisconsin-based case regarding claims the State’s redistricting plans are too partisan. So reports Politico.

A three-judge panel in November ruled 2-1 that the State Assembly’s Republican-made maps were “impermissibly biased.” The Supreme Court justices already voted 5-4 along party lines to stay a requirement mandating new plans be drawn by Nov. 1. All four justices appointed by Democrats dissented.

The State’s Republican-controlled legislature adopted its redistricting plan in 2011, putting it in play for the 2012-2016 elections.
