Mueller Tapped as Special Investigator After Comey Firing

The U.S. Justice Department named former FBI head Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate any alleged interference by Russia in last year’s presidential election. So reports Reuters.

Mueller will look at what, if any, collusion took place between President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia. He was tapped to investigate any potential malfeasance shortly after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.

Trump was alleged to have asked Comey to prematurely end an FBI investigation into ties between Michael Flynn, a national security adviser, and Russia. Moscow denied reports by U.S. intelligence agencies it played a role in the election.
